HOLLY M. STRASSNER

HOLLY M. STRASSNER

NP-C, CRNFA

Specialty: Surgical Services / Operating Room

Holly started her healthcare career in 1992 as a labor and delivery technician. She worked as an RN in NICU as well as in labor and delivery, where she scrubbed in to c-sections. This sparked a passion for surgery, and she pursued a position as an expert nurse in the OR that allowed to both function as a circulator as well as a scrub nurse.

While working and becoming highly skilled in all areas of the operating room, Holly fostered a love for Orthopedics. It was this love for Orthopedics that encouraged her to continue her education as an expert in and as a first Certified Nurse in the OR (CNOR-2001) and the Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA-2002). An expert in wound care as well, Holly has also served as district manager for a wound care company that employed Nurse Practitioners who provided bedside wound care including minor procedures.

Holly now owns her own first assistant company. She eventually continued her education and obtained a masters in nursing and became licensed as a nurse practitioner, an academic endeavor few surgical first assists pursue let alone obtain! She and Sherri are known affectionately at Discovery as the “unicorns”.
