Surgery/Peri-Operative Medical Malpractice
Medical malpractice cases in the surgical and perioperative setting are exceptionally complex situations, requiring a keen eye and specialized knowledge. In these cases, any of the following may be the result of negligence or malpractice:
- Delay in performing surgery or misdiagnosis of a serious condition
- Unauthorized and unnecessary additional procedures
- Operating on the wrong patient, side, or body part
- Inadvertent injury to organs, nerves, or blood vessels during surgery
- Inadequate monitoring of the patient before, during, and after surgery
- Retention of foreign bodies (e.g. sponges, drains, towels, instruments)
- Positioning injuries
- Missed or untreated intra- or post-operative hemorrhage.
